Carlton Grand Tour needs a new home.

Martyn Leader has contacted us about finding his Carlton Grand Tour a new home. The bike is generally in good condition well equipped. However it is in need of a good clean, service and new rubber. He think's it is a 22" frame.

He's not looking to sell it but rather to pass it on to a new home where it will get used. It's probably more suited to a "mature" rider although anyone is welcome to register interest. He's suggested that maybe a donation to an agreeable cancer charity for the bike may be a more appropriate idea.

If you are interested then please contact us through our contact page and we can pass you on to Martyn as we don't want to openly post his contact details in the article.

Blazing Saddles - May 2014

We're just over half way through the Blazing Saddles competition for 2014 with records being broken all over the place by passionate riders pushing harder than the before to get out on their bikes regularly. Here's a quick run down of the competition at the end of May.

Alan Baxter is still leading the gents competition with a record 117 points, the only person to have currently passed the 100 point barrier. Jim Brown is in second on 99 points and Robert Finney sits quite a way behind on 58 points.

In the ladies, Jackie Cooper is in first place with 52 points, just 1 point ahead of second place Lynn Bonnici on 51. Third place is currently held by Elaine Walker on 47 points.

There's been a shake up in the Junior competition with both Lauren and Kieran Higham having completed 18 rides but Lauren being just ahead of her brother on 22 points while Kieran is on 19. Zoe Nuttall is in a comfortable third place with 15 points.

For the full list of riders and points, please check out the May release below.

CTC Awards Success!

The National CTC awards dinner was in Glasgow last weekend on the 10th of May and several members of our group went on a road trip to go celebrate our nominations and winners.

On the evening we picked up a total of 4 awards for the group and individual members of the group which is amazing and it's lovely to our contributions to cycling being recognised on a national scale.

Here are the awards we picked up:
- CTC Voluntary Group of the Year 2013.
- Lauren Higham won 1st Junior Girl in the Tourist Competition for 2013.
- Kieran Higham won 1st Junior Boy in the Tourist Competition for 2013.
- Jackie Cooper won CTC Volunteer of the Year 2013 for the East of England.

A big congratulations to Lauren, Keiran and Jackie on winning and a massive thank you to everyone who is in involved with the group and helps make us who we are.

Thank you. =)
