Get Britain Cycling Petition

Following the release of the report from the All Party Parliamentary Cycling Committee about getting Britain cycling, an online petition has been setup.

If this nationwide petition reaches 100,000 signatories, a parliamentary debate must be held.

You can read the report at

This report has called for the government to act on two points in particular:
  • aim for 10% trips by bike by 2025, and 25% by 2050

  • 10 per person, per year in funding for cycling

This petition is jointly led by the Times newspaper, Sustrans, the AA, British Cycling and the CTC. You can sign the petition by going to the number 10 website.

The possibilities of what can be achieved have already been shown in places such as Cambridge where more than a quarter of all journeys are by bike, this is achievable in the rest of the UK.

Please sign this petition to have cycling facilities improved throughout the UK.

Saturday & Evening Posters

We have now uploaded our posters for our Saturday Starters and Easy Evening rides for April and May that can be downloaded from the pages on our website or from this article.

If you could print a few copies out and ask local shop owners to put them up in their windows that would be great for advertisement or if you work at a company ask to put up the poster on a noticeboard to encourage more people to join us for our rides.

Sunday 14th A Ride Cancelled

Due to a combination of unforseen events our A ride has had to be cancelled. Sorry. The original leader was unable to lead and our stand in is injured - not seriously.

Paul's C ride will still go out as planned.

Normal service will be resumed on Wednesday evening.

Blazing Saddles - March 2013 Update

Even though the bitter cold and the snow still surrounded herts during March, the group were keen to not let the weather stop them from cycling as much as possible and managed to get 15 rides in last month with a few cancelled due to severe weather.

Alan Baxter still leads the mens on 43 points with Jim Brown close behind on 39. Both have started to pull away from third place Richard Button who sits on 33 points currently.

There has been a massive change in the ladies since last month as the tie no longer exists and Lynn Bonnici has now jumped into the lead with 32 points, a 9 point lead over second place Elaine Walker on 23 who is very closely followed by Jackie Cooper on 22.

The juniors has started to heat up now and as of the last ride, both Lauren Higham and Sean Browne now sit on 11 points each with third place Kieran Higham on 5.

To see the full results of the Blazing Saddles for March, head on over to our Blazing Saddles page for more information and a downloadable copy of the current scores!

Letchworth Greenway - Live Updates

The Letchworth Greenway is a popular route that makes up part of some of our rides.

Recently, a major update has been made to the website for the Greenway to allow live updates on the state of the route to be made. This can be found at There is a link on this page that takes you to a map which allows you to match up the location numbers against the actual points on the Greenway.

If you are going to be going anywhere near the Greenway on your bike or on foot, we suggest visiting the Greenway and also, take a look at the live updates page to see if there are any problems near that area!
