Bike Thefts! Be careful.

In the last 2 months there have been several bike thefts in Stevenage with bikes being taken from peoples back gardens and sheds in the early hours of the morning. These criminals seem to be targeting those who have side or back gates and will even go as far as taking the door off a shed to get to the bikes.

We recommend that you keep your bikes locked up securely on your property. If you have a side or back gate make sure they are bolted and padlocked and if you have an outside storeroom or shed, make sure this is locked as well.

If you leave your bike outside, It is recommended that you lock your bike to something that is hard to move and if you have more than one bike outside, lock them together as that will make it harder for them to be stolen.

You can read up more on Cycle Safety and Security by visiting the Herts Police website.

The following leaflet on Cycle Safety also has a section you can print off and fill in details about your bike and attach a picture so in case it is ever stolen you can present the information to the police so they can help to find your bike.

Blazing Saddles - October 2014

The nights are getting longer and the Blazing Saddles competition is drawing to a close with only one month left to go before we announce the winners for 2014. The Here is a quick run down of the Blazing Saddles competition at the end of October.

Alan Baxter is leading in the gents competition and it still the only rider to break the 200 point milestone and now has a whopping 218 points over 174 rides. Jim Brown is in second place with 193 points and Robert Finney is in third on 105.

In the ladies, Lynn Bonnici is holding onto first place with 97 points but only just as Jackie Cooper is 1 point behind on 96. It looks like our ladies will be battling it out in November to see who wins this year. Jill Borcherds is in third place on 75 points and looks set to keep her place.

Lauren Higham is still our junior leader with 39 points with younger brother Kieran still in second place with 31. Zoe Nuttall is in third on 27 points and Robert Dixon is just 1 point behind Zoe in fourth with 26.

For the full list of riders and points, please check out the October release below.

Emitremmus 2014 - Photos now in gallery

Emitremmus was excellent. 360 enjoyed Stevenage CTC's End Of Summertime ride to Saffron Walden and back.

It's been a great summer for cycling and the sun rose on Fairlands Valley Park Sunday morning with mementoes from the Tour de France fluttering in the breeze along with the CTC's own banners.

Just some of the messages received:

A belated thanks to you and all your team for running Sunday’s very enjoyable ride out of Stevenage. Once again it was a great day out, and not as windy as last year, through wonderful English countryside at a dramatic time of the year. Please pass on my thanks to all your team and all the hosts at the three controls on the way around.

Please pass on my thanks to all involved in planning and running yesterdays ride. Very impressed by the standard of the route, control stops and the overall 'ambience'. Hope to see you all again next spring.

Really enjoyed the event. Well done to you and other organisers

The Twitter gossip was lively too join the fun @StevenageCTC
