Blazing Saddles - September 2015

With every night growing longer and a chill cropping up in the air, we've only two months left in the Blazing Saddles competition for 2015 but still plenty of opportunity to grab those last minute points! Here's a run down of the standings at the end of September:

Dave Hall looks set to take the title with 190 points and likely to break the 200 milestone soon. Second place is Alan Baxter with 151 followed by James Partington with 129 and Peter Woolmer in fourth with 111.

In the ladies, Jill Borcherds keeps her lead with 92 points, baring down on the 100 milestone. Lynn Bonnici is second with 67 with Jackie Cooper in third with 49.

The boys are still holding the lead in the junior competition with Sid Homewood in first with 43 and Robert Dixon still close behind on 40. Lauren Higham looks set to disrupt the boys dominance with 38 points and younger brother Kieran in fourth with 21.

Blazing Saddles - August 2015

As the nights begin to grow longer and the weather begins to change, we slowly approach the end of the Blazing Saddles competition for 2015 but we still have a few months left with plenty of opportunities to grab points! Here's a run down of the standings at the end of August:

Dave Hall is steaming away in the gents competition with a whopping 172 points. Second place is Alan Baxter with 132, followed by James Partington with 119 and Peter Whoolmer breaks the milestone with exactly 100 points in fourth!

In the ladies, Jill Borcherds keeps her lead with 87 points with Lynn Bonnici behind on 62 and Jackie Cooper in third with 40 points.

The boys are still holding the lead in the junior competition with Sid Homewood in first with 40 and Robert Dixon close behind with 37. Lauren is catching them up with 32 points currently and could be in with a chance of catching the boys up before the year is up!

Emitremmus 2015 Entries

Hello! It's that time a year again where we begin to prepare for our epic Emitremmus Event on the day the clocks go back to greenwich mean time over the winter!

We are well on the way to planning this years events and the entries are starting to come in thick and fast with just over 6 weeks until the 25th October 2015!

You can enter online for the event through our website by following the link here or by going to the Emitremmus page. Entries for both the 100km and 67km routes are available with postal entry forms and all the other information also available on the Emitremmus page.

If you don't feel like riding this year you can get still get involved as we are always looking for volunteers to help marshall our control points on the routes. Get in touch with Jim Brown if you are interested in volunteering.

Cyclists Curry Crawl Bookings


The Curry Crawl will be at a new venue with a new menu offering.

The White Lion in Walkern at 8.00pm during our usual Wednesday evening ride.

For just £9.00,

you can choose from 1 of 4 curries,each with rice and naan bread…….. there will also be poppadoms to share on tables!!



The menu choice is:

1) Beef Madras (hot)

2) Lamb Rogun Josh (medium)

3) Chicken Tikka Masala (mild)

4) Butternut Squash (veg mild)

Blazing Saddles - July 2015

The last 2 months have been very busy for cycling in and around Stevenage and North Herts with Street Velodrome, The Women's Tour, Stevenage Circular and the Baldock Cycle Challenge but we can now bring you an update on the Blazing Saddles competition! Here's a quick run down of the standings at the end of July:

Dave Hall is holding onto first in the gents competition with 146 points from 101 rides! In second place is Alan Baxter with 112 points and third place is James Partington with 104 points.

In the ladies, Jill Borcherds is retaining her lead with 76 points but Lynn Bonnici has closed the gap a little bringing her points up to 48 and the gap down to 28. In third place is Jackie Cooper with 33 points.

The junior competition is being dominated by the boys with Sid Homewood out in front with 35 points and Robert Dixon very close behind with 34. Lauren Higham is in third place with 21 points and fourth place is brother Kieran with 15!
