Santa Cycles

Get festive on this Wednesday’s Santa Cycles ride. Riders are encouraged to decorate their bikes and wear Santa outfits (or other seasonal fancy dress) for this special evening ride. Meet by the Christmas Tree in Stevenage Old Town. It’s on the green by Springfield House Community Centre (SG1 3EJ). The ride is free and leaves at 7.15 p.m. There will be a refreshment stop in Aston and you should be back in the old town about 10 p.m.

Christmas lunch and presentations

A few pictures from today's Christmas presentation lunch. Lots of awards were distributed, a lot of tasty food was devoured and many happy cyclists enjoyed a sunset ride back to Stevenage. Many thanks to Jackie for organising the lunch, to Paul for leading the ride, to Jim for organising all the awards (with the help of Stuart, Stuart, Jill and Jim), Zander for taking many of the pictures, to Melody for handing out the awards and to all those who attended for making it such fun.

Twin Towns 1000 Bike ride

We have been asked to support this local ride that will support local charities. Their website is

As discussed we also have a Just Giving page, accessed via the donate links on our website, or by searching for twintowns1000 when on Just Giving. Every single penny that is donated passes directly to the Lister Hospital Charity teams account, where Steve, myself and the TT1000 team can decide how to spend the money raised. We are currently working on a 'wish list' from the three departments we are looking to contribute to, and hope to make our first purchases and presentations before Christmas.

We are just beginning to reach out to local businesses, if anyone in the CTC team thinks it may be worth us talking to a business please let me know so we can activate.

June 9th – Ride Day One
We like the idea of a 'there and back' ride on day one, perhaps Lister hospital out about 30 miles, stop at an arranged restaurant or community centre, and then cyclists return, whilst the TT1000 cyclists then continue onto Harwich for our overnight ferry. We would want any participants to pay a fee for taking part, to cover any costs that need to be covered and also to add a donation to our fund.

So I am asking you all would people be interested in taking a day off work the day before Bike Week starts (we think) to raise some funds for the Lister?

Thesis help requested!

My name is Merel Jansen. I'm a Dutch/Italian student working on my Bachelor thesis. I'm writing you with the following question.

For my thesis I'm writing a digital marketing plan for a French mountain hotel on how to reach English cyclists on the digital landscape. In order to do so, I need to gain insight into the English cycling persona with regards to their online behaviour.

Therefore, I'm looking for multiple ways on how I can find English cyclists who would be willing to participate in my survey. It does not take more than 6 minutes and the data will all be anonymous of course.

Would you as a club be willing to ask a few cyclists whether they are open to participate in my survey?

This is the link to the survey:

If there are any questions, I'm happy to answer!

Kind regards,

Merel Jansen
