Start of Summertime

Welcome to the Stevenage Start of Summertime Specials (SSOSS) event page.

Each year CyclingUK Stevenage (formerly Stevenage and North Herts CTC) organises a series of events to celebrate the start of summertime.

This year there are 4 different routes to choose from depending on your preference of distance.

The rides feature in the Cycling UK Summer Challenge Rides Series.

We encourage everyone to enter in advance.

Event Information

We have 4 different routes to choose from, these have been updated for 2019 with new stops including Church Hall teas at Braughing:

Ride: 66 kilometres
Route: From Stevenage to Reed, Braughing, Puckeridge and back to Stevenage.
Start time: 10:30am (arrive at the start by 10:00am)
Time allowed: Up to 6 hours
Price: �11 (�8 members)

Ride: 100 kilometres
Route: From Stevenage to Reed, Barkway, Saffron Walden and back to Stevenage via Braughing.
Start time: 10:00am (arrive at the start by 9:30 am)
Time allowed: Up to 9 hours and 30 minutes
Price: �11 (�8 members)

Ride: 160 kilometres (100 miles)
Route: Stevenage to Reed, Barkway, Saffron Walden, Toppesfield, Finchingfield and back to Stevenage via Thaxted and Braughing.
Start time: 8:30 am (arrive at the start by 8:00 am)
Time allowed: Up to 11 hours
Price: �11 (�8 members)

Audax UK Ride: 200 kilometres (125 miles)
Route: Stevenage to Reed, Barkway, Saffron Walden, Lavenham and back to Stevenage via Finchingfield and Braughing.
Start time: 8:15 am (arrive at the start by 8:00 am - earlier if you want breakfast)
Time allowed: Up to 13.5 hours
Price: �11 (�8 members)

Safety note: You may need to carry lights, sunset in Stevenage on the day is at 19:21 BST.

Please note that all on the day entries will be �15 and subject to availability.

Entries

Online entries for 2020 are open. You can make online entries using the links above. The online system will close on 23 March 2020 however you will still be able to enter on the day.

All entrants will be notified by email before the ride.

If you would like to make a postal entry then you can download and print the 2020 entry form. Details of who to send it to and what to include is all on the form.
