Social Events

Stevenage & North Herts CTC host a number of social events each year.

Below is a list of all the events in the order they appear in the year.

Resolution Ride - 1st January

The resolution ride takes place on the 1st January each year and is meant to be a short ride that everyone can go out on as the first ride of the year and make their New Years Resolutions. Despite the bitter cold, this ride normally attracts a resonably large group of cyclists who have braved the hangover to come out in the cold winters air.

Pizza Ride - Spring

A local pub puts on a Pizza Night for us.

Spring Rides Week - May

We organise an events each year as a taster to our rides as a way of promoting cycling. We like to do our part for promoting cycling and therefore organise 9 rides over the course of 9 days ranging from evening rides, tolonger weekend rides.

Bicycle BBQ - June/July

A local pub puts on a BBQ for us in the summer months.

Bike Week - June

We organise an events each year as part of Bike Week as a way of promoting cycling. We like to do our part for promoting cycling and therefore organise 9 rides over the course of 9 days ranging from evening rides, to our special teddy bears picnic ride and our big Stevenage Circular event.

Cyclist's Curry Crawl - September

The Cyclist's Curry Crawl marks the end of our summer programme with an easy evening ride with a longer than usual stop where everyone can enjoy a curry together.

Local Group AGM

Our local AGM happens once a year, normally the week after the Emitremmus event and involves sitting down and going through everything that has happened in the last year and looking ahead to the future. The meeting is also a place to bring up any issues you might have or suggestions for the group. Everyone is welcome to attend and normally afterwards there are a small number of us who go into the local pub to have a drink and a chat.

Christmas Lunch - December

The Christmas Lunch is the first ride of the new Blazing Saddles competition. Riders from across the varying rides from the long-distance Sunday A riders to the Saturday Starter riders come together to enjoy a meal together followed by the awards presentation where all of our awards for the previous year are passed out and a great photo opportunity too!

Santa Cycles - December

Each year, we traditionally organise a Santa's Cycles event the week before Christmas on the date of one of our December Winter Wanders in the hope to attract as many cycling Santa's as possibly. It's a great laugh and gets everyone in the festive spirit so please come dressed up if you can.

Rides Planning Meetings

Our rides planning meetings are often considered to be social events. Have you ever wanted to have your say on the rides we organise? Come drop into one of our rides planning meetings that happen every 1-2 months and have your say. More details about each meeting are released closer to the time and are included on our rides lists.
